About the Employer
The role is with an expanding engineering business that is investing and recruiting. KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions Ltd is handling applications for this Cambridge-based software team position.
Job Responsibilities
- Architect and develop embedded firmware on Zephyr RTOS, with some bare metal work
- Bring up prototype boards from first power using debugger, scope and logic analyser
- Design and maintain board interfaces including CAN, SPI, I²C, UART and RS422
- Build networked services and interfaces including REST APIs, SNMP agents and OpenAPI specifications
- Develop and debug TCP and UDP communication layers and secure protocols
- Work on embedded Linux on Yocto-based platforms, including services, daemons and device drivers
- Lead root cause analysis and write requirements, interface specs and documentation
Requirements
- Substantial commercial experience of low-level embedded software and firmware
- Strong, demonstrable Zephyr RTOS experience, including devicetree, Kconfig, driver model and west
- Solid C and C++ skills for resource-constrained hardware
- Confidence reading schematics and datasheets
- Proven board bring-up and hardware-to-software integration experience
- Practical debugging skills with scopes, logic analysers and software tools
- Ability to explain technical work clearly in writing and in person
