Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality, compassionate services and aims for healthier lives and thriving communities. The Trust is expanding its Stroke Service with a new Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit to support patients across Dorset and Somerset.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with acute and hyper-acute stroke presentations
- Complete neurological observations, NIHSS scoring, and appropriate escalation
- Support post-thrombolysis monitoring and early mobilisation
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised rehabilitation plans
- Communicate sensitively with patients and families during complex situations
- Contribute to service development during the launch of the Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit
Requirements
- Essential: Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Part 1 Adult/General)
- Essential: Significant and recent post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting within the UK
- Essential: Understanding of confidentiality and current professional nursing issues
- Desirable: Evidence of CPD related to stroke care, teaching qualification or practice supervisor/assessor status
Visa Sponsorship and International Applicants
This role is eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, as defined by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The Trust confirms it welcomes applications from individuals who require sponsorship to work in the UK. Sponsorship will be offered subject to meeting UKVI eligibility criteria. Applicants must have current UK professional registration with the NMC. Applications from those requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship are considered alongside all other applications.
