About the Employer
VA Puget Sound Health Care System is a Level 1a major interdisciplinary teaching healthcare system. It has two divisions and multiple community-based outpatient clinics. It offers emergency, specialty medical, surgical, psychiatric, critical care and rehabilitation services to veterans in the Seattle area.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and determine appropriate delegation of tasks to nursing assistants and licensed practical nurses
- Formulate and update individualized plans of care based on nursing assessments
- Administer medications, IV fluids, TPN, lipids, PCA and manage multiple IV medications
- Provide complex wound care and administer blood products as ordered
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond promptly to rhythm changes
- Cover charge nurse duties on the COVID unit when operating, as assigned
- Use the Electronic Health Record system and complete required documentation and mandatory training
Requirements
- Graduate of a professional nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE (or equivalent foreign nursing qualification with formal degree equivalency validation)
- Current, full, active and unrestricted RN license in a US state, territory or the District of Columbia
- Proficiency in written and spoken English (required for direct patient care roles under federal law)
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing plus 5 years of acute care medical/surgical experience
- Must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug test, and complete a background/security investigation
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a condition of employment
